Projects

At Ushr Foundation in Bangladesh is dedicated to combating poverty through Zakat, with a special focus on Zakat on agricultural products like rice. Our projects revive this Islamic obligation, ensuring that 10% of harvests from fertile lands reaches the poor. In a country where many live below the poverty line, and agriculture employs a large portion of the workforce, these initiatives bridge the gap between abundance and deprivation.

By educating farmers on Shariah-compliant Zakat calculation and distribution, we empower communities to share rice and grains, fostering self-reliance and dignity among the needy. Our projects not only alleviate immediate hunger but also promote long-term economic stability, reducing rural poverty. Through partnerships with local mosques and scholars, we have distributed several tons of rice Zakat annually, impacting thousands of families.

Agriculture is Bangladesh's backbone, producing rice that feeds millions, yet poverty persists due to unequal distribution. Zakat on this produce addresses this by mandating a tenth for the poor, preventing wealth hoarding.
